Harl Adrian Todd passed away January 2, 2010. Harl was born April 4, 1930 in Vinton County, Ohio. He graduated from Zaleski High School in 1947 in a class of eight. He married Anna Maxine (Nichols) June 11, 1950 in Asbury Chapel Nelsonville, OH, she survives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert C. & Mildred E. (Chesser) Todd & two brothers, Clay & Marion (Shorty). Harl is survived by one sister, Ieda Cullison of Cement City, MI & Frostproof, FL. He served in the US Army from 1952-1956 during the Korean War in the US Corp of Engineers reaching the rank of 1st LT. continuing to serve in the inactive reserves until his honorable discharge January 1992. Harl always jokingly said: "I guarded the Potomac while I was at Fort Belvoir and not a single enemy every got up it!"
Harl was the father of three children, Belva E. (George Allen) Lauvray of Coshocton, OH, Philip A. Todd of St. Louis, MO and Cara G. (Max) Miller of Spring Valley, OH. He was the grandfather of four, CPT. Todd (Alicia) Lauvray, Ft. Lee, VA (currently deployed in KUWAIT), Tara (Stephen) Coyne North Olmstead, OH, Serena (Clifford) Grewell Coshocton, OH and Nicholas (Cassandra) Lauvray Newark, OH. Harl was the great-grandfather of 2 beautiful girls, Adrianne & Brigid; and 6 handsome boys, Lucas, Cole, Paul, Levi, Colin & C.J.
Harl worked for AEP from 1949 until 1985. He was one of the founding workers opening the local AEP (formerly Columbus & Southern) power plant in Conesville, OH. He began work for AEP as a meter reader, worked on the line crew and then began working in operations as an Auxiliary Tender, working his way up to the control room and finishing his career as the Environmental Superintendent of the Conesville plant.
Harl as a Master Mason, member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of BPOE (Elks). He was a private pilot and belonged to the Airmen's Club in West Lafayette, OH. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, water skiing, bicycling, traveling and loved swimming. Harl and his son, Phil, restored the 1929 Model-A Ford that now sits in the local DeCosky showroom. Harl and Maxine were members of the Coshocton Gingham & Swing'em Square Dance Club for 15 years. They have been lifelong church goers attending Prarie Chapel United Methodist, Grace United Methodist, Coshocton Nazarene, and First Baptist Church of Frostproof, FL Churches being active in many of the different classes and groups within them.
Harl and his wife, Maxine were married 59 years and enjoyed 24 years of retirement. Much of their retirement they lived in a motor home traveling over the entire USA, Canada and Mexico along with several cruises to Europe and the Caribbean. In 2000 they settled in Rainbow Resort Frostproof, FL where they resided winters, they've spent their summers here in Coshocton, OH for many years to be close to family and playing with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Harl finished his life under the loving care of his family & Hospice.
