H. C. Mcelroy

H. C. McElroy of Frostproof passed away Sunday, January 15, 2012 at the James A. Haley Veteran's Hospital in Tampa.

He was born January 27, 1929 in Frostproof to the late Clenton Lester & Maybell (Croft) McElroy; and he was a lifelong resident of the area. He was retired from the U.S. Army, was of the Baptist faith and a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion.

H. C. is preceded in death by his brother, Spider McElroy and a son, Clinton H. McElroy. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Betty McElroy; four daughters, Debbie Williamson (Rickie) of Frostproof, Maybelle Ku (Philip) of Sebring, Judy Thornton (Carl Jr) of Wauchula and Henrietta "P-nut" McElroy of Frostproof; five sons, Henry McElroy Jr (Mary Helen) of Babson Park, John McElroy (Pat) of Graceville, Oscar McElroy of Babson Park, Lendwood McElroy of Frostproof and Harold McElroy (Lori) of Babson Park; three sisters, Betty Underwood of Frostproof, Helen Loren Foster of South Haven, MI and Dolly Ruth Foster (Albert) of South Haven, MI; two brothers, Lester McElroy (Carolyn) of Frostproof and Lenward McElroy of Frostproof; 25 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson and a multitude of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Thursday, January 19, 2012 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home and the funeral service will be held 11:00 am Friday, January 20, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Frostproof with Rev. James B. Woods officiating. Interment will follow at the Silver Hill Cemetery.
