Guy Frank Whitehead, Jr., 90

Guy Frank Whitehead, Jr. of Lakeland passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at his residence.

He was born January 5, 1934, in Carroll County, Kentucky to the late Guy and Edna Whitehead; he moved to Lake Wales in 1968 then to Lakeland in 2018. Guy and his wife were joint owners of Dairy Queen in Lake Wales for 50 years. He was a member of Golfview Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Lake Wales where he was also a Deacon. Guy served with the United States Army and was a Kentucky farmer.

Guy was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Whitehead, and sister, May Bonn Zickel. He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Smith (Michael Smith, Jr.) of Lakeland; son, Kurt Whitehead of Tampa; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Smith of Gray, Tennessee; and nieces and nephews, Sandy, Peggy and Jimmy who are all of Kentucky.

A visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until the funeral service at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales with Dr. Scott Markley officiating. Interment will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 12, 2024 at Wheatley Cemetery in Wheatley, Kentucky.
