Gussie Marbutt of Lake Wales passed away Friday, October 14, 2011 at her residence.
She was born February 1, 1926 in Phil Campbell, AL to the late Riley Houston & Sarah Maudie (Carden) Frederick and had 6 brothers and 5 sisters; she came here from Alabama 60 years ago. She retired in 1981 from Publix after 24 years as a Meat Department and Deli Associate and she was a member of the First Baptist Church. She loved to work in the yard, Sunday School classes, shopping and eating out. She also loved spending time with her family, children and grandchildren.
Gussie was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Marbutt in 1980. Survivors include her daughter, Shirley J. Smith (B.H. Fraser) of Lake Wales; son, Hoyt D. Marbutt (Karen) of Lake Wales; sisters, Ruby Lea Bishop (John) of Florence, AL and Christine Spiller (Billy) of Gulf Breeze, FL; brother, Royce Frederick (Lula) of Bear Creek, AL; 6 grandchildren, Brian Marbutt, Barry Marbutt, Susan Edwards, Melissa Inboden, Aaron Smith and Rebecca Smith; 9 great-grandchildren, 3 step-great-grandchildren and 1 step-great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 pm, Monday, October 17, 2011 and the funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales with Dr. Scott Markley officiating. Interment will follow at the Lake Wales Cemetery.
