Gregory E. “Sarg” Strait, 77

Gregory E. “Sarg” Strait of Lake Wales passed away Sunday, November 26, 2023 at his residence.

He was born February 18, 1946 in Gloversville, New York to the late Stanley and Pearles Strait; he has been a resident of the area for the past 45 years. Gregory worked in construction and was a veteran of the United States Navy who served three tours in Vietnam and one tour in Desert Storm. He was a member of the Lake Wales VFW, Moose Lodge, American Legion, and NRA.

Gregory was preceded in death by his sister, Betty McCrady. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Diane Strait; daughters, Jennifer Clark and husband Paul of Tallahassee, and Krystal Hallack and husband Giles of Winter Haven; sister, Sandra Strait of Frostproof; and grandchildren, Liam Clark, Caitrin Clark, Hayes Hallack, and Harmony Hallack.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his honor can be made to Saint Jude Hospital (www.stjude.org) and the Wounded Warrior Project (support.woundedwarriorproject.org/).
