WAVERLY--Grady Ward, 88, of Waverly died Thursday, October 11, 2007 at Winter Haven Hospital.

Born February 11, 1919 in Newville, AL; he came here from the Dothan, AL area in 1939. He was a plant manager for Waverly Growers. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Winter Haven and a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed fishing and the outdoors; and was a scoutmaster for 12 years with Troop 125 in Waverly.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Geraldine Ward of Waverly; daughter, Vivian Smith of Waverly; son, William G. “Bill” Ward of Lake Wales; sister, Lunett W. Jarvis of Leesville, LA; grandchildren; Heather Bachtel of Tampa; Heath Ward of Sebring; Jerad Smith of Waverly; and 3 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until service time at 3:00 PM, Saturday, October 13, 2007 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales with Pastor Tim Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Lake Wales Cemetery.
