Gordon B Sparks

Gordon B Sparks, 87, of Frostproof, passed away in Sebring on Saturday, February 11, 2017.

Born April 18, 1929 in Charlotte, Michigan to the late William Harrison and Ilza (MacArthur) Sparks, he moved to Florida 19 years ago coming from Charlotte, MI.

He served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was the owner operator of a printing business. Recently he was a school bus driver for Frostproof High School and Ben Hill Griffin Elementary School. He was a member of the American Legion, the Masons, the Shriners, and Rotary Club in Charlotte, and was a member of the Union Congregational Church in Avon Park.

He is preceded in death by his step father Albert Germain and brothers, Donald, Russell, Robert and Kenneth.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, JoAnn Sparks; children Steven D. Sparks and his wife Maureen of Cozad, NE, Shannon Lee Cooksley and her husband Kevin of Weissert, NE, Gregory L. Sparks and his wife Jeannie of Charlotte, MI, Kelly Dean Sparks and his wife Karen of Kopperi, TX, Tamarra Jo Crandell and her husband Daniel of Charlotte, MI and Donald Todd Cogswell of Charlotte, MI; Sister Betty Sutfin of Frostproof, FL; 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

A viewing will be held Tuesday, February 14, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home chapel in Frostproof. Services will be held at a later date in Charlotte, MI.

Contributions may be made to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
