Gordon W. Brown

Gordon W. Brown of Frostproof passed away Monday, August 8, 2011 at the Winter Haven Hospital.

He was born March 17, 1927 in Frostproof to the late Willard and Pearl (Straughn) Brown; and returned to Frostproof from Homestead, FL nine years ago. He was retired from the Florida Department of Agriculture as the Bureau Chief of Fruit and Vegetable Inspection. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.

Gordon was preceded in death by two brothers. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; daughter, Sharon Brown of Gainesville, FL; son, Willard Brown of Madison, FL; sister, Margaret Sheffield of Frostproof; 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, August 12, 2011 at the Silver Hill Cemetery in Frostproof. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 11, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home, Frostproof.
