GLORIA SMITH, 83

Gloria Smith of Lake Wales passed away Monday, September 10, 2012 at the Lake Wales Medical Center.

She was born August 27, 1929 in Lake Wales to the late Henry & Faith Owens; she was a lifelong resident of the area. She was a retired LPN from the Lake Wales Hospital and of the Baptist faith. She was an avid reader, loving mother, grandmother & great-grandmother, enjoyed fishing and staying in touch with people by email and Facebook.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Charles V. Smith; two daughters, Charlotte Faye Phelps (Ernie) of Lake Wales and Virginia Kaye Tindle (Rodney) of Plant City; two sons, Charles Rodney Smith (Susan Marie) of Lake Wales and John A. Smith (Cindy) of Lake Wales; three brothers, Vernon Owens of Sebastian, Kenneth Owens of Fort Myers and Donnie Owens of Sebastian; eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Wednesday, September 12, 2012 and the funeral service will be held 11:00 am Thursday, September 13, 2012 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales with Rev. Nathan Osborne officiating. Interment will follow at the Lake Wales Cemetery
