Gloria Ann Barlow Houk

Gloria Ann Barlow Houk, 74, of Lake Wales, Florida passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2015, at her residence.

She was born September 11, 1940, in Meigs, GA to the late Willie Frank Cox and Lou Alice Cox Barlow. She has been a resident of the area since 1958. She worked many years in customer service for Time Warner Cable. Prior to that she was the 4th grade teacher at Lake Wales Christian School. She was of the Baptist faith.

Gloria was preceded in death by her husband Don Houk and grandson William Scott Griswold. Gloria is survived by daughters Tammi Houk Griswold of Lake Wales, Terri Houk Eggerton (Walter) of Orlando, FL; son Tony Houk of Lake Wales; sister, Janice Dietrick of Lakeland; brother, Gary Barlow of Lakeland; 2 grandsons, Cory Anthony Houk of North Carolina and Johnny Anthony Bentley of Orlando.

Her favorite hobby was cooking and you were always welcome to come have a bite with her. I have never heard one person say anything bad about our Mother, but we could write a book about how much she was loved. One of her legacy will be that she was always willing to give you a second, third, and even a fourth chance and she would encourage you to be better and make the most out of every chance given.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. Friday, September 4, 2015 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home Chapel Lake Wales with visitation from 2:00 PM until service time with Rev. Waylon Carlisle officiating. Interment will be at Lake Wales Cemetery.
