Glen Junior Wise

Glen Junior Wise of Frostproof passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at the Groves Center. He was 86.

He was born May 12, 1924 in Geneva County, AL to the late James Washington "J.W." & Rachel Sloan Wise; he came here from Geneva County when he was 2. He was the owner/operator of Wise Seed Co in Frostproof, a member of the First Baptist Church of Frostproof and a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was also a member of the American Legion and Masonic Lodge and a lifelong supporter of Frostproof athletics. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and, when he was younger, playing baseball in the semi-pro Orangebelt League.

Glen was preceded in death by his brother, J.T. Wise. Survivors include his wife, Guelda V. Wise; sons, Doug & Cindy Wise of Frostproof, Rudy & Linda Wise of Frostproof and Clint & Cathy Wise of Frostproof; sisters, Mildred Hinckley of Orlando, Tenny Ruth Croley of Frostproof and Lynette Vermillon of Ocala; brother, Wesley Wise of Frostproof; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 AM Friday, June 25, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Frostproof with Rev. Darrol Hood officiating. Interment will follow at the Silver Hill Cemetery.
