Gilbert Browning, 82, of Lake Wales passed away Sunday, June 8, 2008 at the Mike Conley Hospice House in Clermont.

Born February 9, 1926 in Lake Wales, FL; where he was a lifelong resident. He was a retired security guard for Budd's Security and the Lake Wales Country Club, was of the Protestant faith, and a veteran of the World War II era, serving in the U.S. Navy Reserves. He was a member of the V.F.W. and loved fishing and photography.

Gilbert was preceded by his wife, Barbara Kay Browning in 1993. Survivors include his sister-in-law, June E. Powell of Lake Wales; good friend, Luana Vieth of Lake Wales; niece, Susan Powell of Gainesville and several other nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held 10:00 AM, Monday, June 30, 2008 at the Lake Wales Cemetery.
