Gertrude Slocum of Haven Dies at 101

WINTER HAVEN -- Mrs. Gertrude Frances Slocum of Winter Haven died of heart failure Monday (May 8, 2006) at Life Care Center of Winter Haven. She was 101.

Born in Perry, N.Y., on Feb. 10, 1905, she came to Frostproof from Warsaw, N.Y., in 1969. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Rebecca Lodge and the Grange. She was a Protestant.

Mrs. Slocum is survived by her nieces, Marie Walker, Jean Tracy, Norma Billings, Lynn Lindner, all of New York; nephew, Red Kelly, New York.

Memorial services will be held in New York.
