Mrs. Geraldine M. Batson of Lake Wales died of heart failure Friday (Nov. 25, 2005) at The Groves Center. She was 81.

Born Feb. 21, 1924, in Sparta, Ga., Mrs. Batson moved to Lake Wales from Donaldsonville, Ga., in 1942. She worked as a citrus grader for Citrus World. She attended Lake Pierce Baptist Church.

Mrs. Batson was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Batson. She is survived by her daughters, Fern White, Dallas, Texas, Linda Kay Phillips, Brewton, Ala., Martha Sue McKelvin, Crystal River; sons, Jay Michael Batson, Lake Wales, James Doyle Batson, Ocala; sister, Mary Palmer, Plant City; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at Marion Nelson Funeral Home, Lake Wales. Services will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
