Gerald R. Carnley of Lake Wales, passed away on Friday, December 18, 2009 at the Lake Wales Medical Center.
He was born March 5, 1943 in Dover, FL to the late Raymond and Avie Dee (George) Carnley; he has been a resident of the area since a child coming here from Dover. He was a retired Scale House supervisor for Florida Natural Growers for 39 years and was a member of the First Assembly of God Church. He enjoyed antique cars and trucks, growing flowers and taking care of his yard.
Gerald was preceded in death by first wife, Carol Carnley in 1999 and brother, Rudy Carnley (killed in action in Vietnam). Survivors include his wife, Jane Mercer Carnley of Lake Wales; son, Christopher Carnley of Lake Wales; step-sons, Timothy Mercer of Waverly and Nathan Mercer of Lake Wales; step-daughter, Carol Mercer-Miller of Erie, PA; sisters, Emilean Clemons of Alturas and Margean Bryan of Alturas; brother, Wendell Carnley of Lake Wales; and 5 Grandchildren
The family will be receiving friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, Monday, December 21, 2009 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales with Rev. Walter Nelson officiating. Interment will follow at the Eden Cemetery in Frostproof.
