Gary Bruce Straub

December 19, 1945 — September 8, 2012

Gary Bruce Straub, 66

Gary Straub of Lake Wales passed away Saturday, September 08, 2012 at his residence due to a short battle with Cancer.

He was born December 19, 1945 in New Brunswick, New Jersey to the late William and Dorothy Francis (Dagger) Straub; and came to Lake Wales 50 years ago from New Jersey. Gary was retired from the Lake Wales Medical Center in the food service department, he was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church of Lake Wales, enjoyed Blue Grass Music, loved going to church especially revivals and dinner on the ground. Undoubtedly the man with the biggest heart in town. Many knew him, just not long enough. He possessed an insight and perspective of life that few others will ever know. He listened to every word said to him and always had a smile. Gary touched all of us, each in different ways. I’m proud to say that he was my brother, a father, a husband and lastly, a friend to all. We will miss him dearly. The measure of our lives does not depend solely on how we lived, but how much we leave behind.

Gary is survived by his sons, Gary Bruce (wife Tammy) Straub, Jr of Lake Wales, John Windham Straub of Plant City; brothers, Ronald R. “Ron” Straub Sr of Indian Lake Estates, FL, G. Keith Straub of Lake Wales; 3 Grandchildren

Funeral services will be held 7:00 PM Thursday, September 13, 2012 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Wallace and Rev. Andre Stoudemire officiating.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, September 13, 2012 from 6:00 PM until service time.
