Gary Franklin Chelf

Gary Franklin Chelf was born on July 1, 1943, in Iowa City, Iowa. He lived a full life until he passed away on April 4, 2026, at AdventHealth Lake Wales.

He spent many years working as a printing press operator. Gary was known for being a big sportsman. He especially loved golf and enjoyed playing it as a hobby. When he was younger, he also played baseball, showing his passion for sports from an early age.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Evelyn Chelf, and by his sister, Candace Griffey. He is survived by his sons, Kelly Chelf and his wife Yola, who live in Davenport, and Jay Chelf and his wife Tammy of Cape Coral. His good friend and mother of Kelly and Jay, Carrie Miller also survives him. Gary was a proud grandfather to Meagan, Carly, John, and Luke. He was also blessed to have three great-grandchildren.
