LAKE WALES -- Mr. Garrett Bates Driscoll of Lake Wales died of congestive heart failure Wednesday (Oct. 5, 2005) at Lake Wales Medical Center. He was 73.

Born in Terre Haute, Ind., on July 10, 1932, he came to Lake Wales from Coral Springs in 1997. He was a master sergeant in the Air Force, and a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a research and developement director for John Alden Life Insurance Company. He received his bachelor's degree from Florida Atlantic University. He was a Lutheran.

Mr. Driscoll is survived by his wife, Janice Driscoll; daughters, Caroline Driscoll and Jennifer Birchfield, both of Lake Wales, Lorraine Veltri, Fort Lauderdale, Grey Pitner, Canton, Ga., Paige Prevost, Douglasville, Ga., Kenna Jones, Macon, Ga.; brother, James O. Driscoll, Windermere; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 this evening at Marion Nelson Funeral Home of Lake Wales. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Burns Avenue Church of God, Lake Wales.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Christian Children's Fund, 2821 Emerywood Parkway, Richmond, Va., 23294.
