Garland Elizabeth Myers, 99

Garland E. Myers of Lake Wales, Florida passed away Thursday, August 29, 2019 at Brookdale of Winter Haven.

She was born October 26, 1919 in Dixon, Illinois to the late Ira and Mary G. (Krug) Utz. She has been a resident of the area since 2013. Garland married her childhood sweetheart, Galen, in June of 1939 and they were faithfully married for over 69 years. They were the proud parents of their daughter, Beverly.

Garland had a tender heart for junior high kids and was a Sunday School Teacher for kids that age for decades. She impacted the lives of countless kids for many generations. She also enjoyed traveling, organizing get togethers, and spending time with her three grandchildren. She was a long time member of the Prince of Peace Church of the Brethren in Denver, Colorado and she attended the South Lake Wales Church of God.

Garland will be remembered for being a strong, independent woman that loved unconditionally.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Galen Quentin Myers; 2 brothers, Richard and Kenny Utz. She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Weimer and husband Jerry of Lake Wales, FL.; 3 grandchildren, Kristen Griffin and husband Doug, Kevin Weimer and wife Aimee Joy, Kirk Weimer and wife Heidi.

Private family service and interment will be held in Denver, Colorado.
