Fred Wood

Fred Wood of Frostproof passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012 due to a traffic accident in Lake Wales.

He was born June 10, 1964 in Malden, MA; and he came here from Massachusetts 35 years ago. He was a Refrigeration Technician for Florida's Natural Growers and of the Christian faith. He was a graduate of Lake Wales Senior High School, loved to cook, was a Harley Davidson rider and was a strong man. He loved his family and wanted the best for them. Fred always had a smile and would give you the shirt off his back. He loved Jennifer from the moment he laid eyes on her; and was always proud of his wife and son.

Fred was preceded in death by his father, Paul Wood. Survivors include wife of almost 19 years, Kathy Wood; daughter, Jennifer Hamric (Brian) of Haines City; son, Kerry James Wood of Frostproof; mother, Honey Varney of Babson Park; sisters, Tammy Simpson (Tom) of Winter Haven and Tiffany Wood of Malden, MA; brothers, Corey Wood (Donna) of Malden, MA and Paul Wood (Bonnie) of Babson Park; and three grandchildren, Sarah Anne Hamric, Ben Hamric and Katherine Hamric.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Friday, March 9, 2012 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Frostproof. Celebration of life service will be held 3:00 pm Saturday, March 10, 2012 at The Depot in Frostproof.
