Franklin Delano Thornton, 83
Lifelong resident of Frostproof, Florida. He passed away on October 21, 2017. He was a lifelong member of Corinth Baptist Church in Berah. Franklin was a veteran of the U.S. Navy; he served 7 years during the Korean War. When discharged he was stationed on the U.S.S. Roosevelt. In the mid 1970s he joined the National Guards Reserve in Lake Wales serving 4 years. He retired from Proctor and Gamble of Frostproof. He was the electrical supervisor for 13 years. Franklin was preceded by his wife Rebecca Alice Thornton, of 51 years. Parents Theodore and Edna Thornton. Brothers Oran, Raymond, Carl, and Lloyd Thornton. Sister Shirley Thornton. Great granddaughter Leilani Greathouse. Mother in law Reva Taylor. Sister in law Mary Taylor and Virginia Thornton. Brother in law Ray Taylor. Franklin is survived by his daughter Becky Thornton. Son's Chuck Thornton, Sonny Clements and wife Leta Clements. Franklin has 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Also survived by his sister in law Marcella McDaniel, Barbara Thornton, Marie Thornton, and Jane Thornton. Brother in law Dusty Taylor. He will be missed by many. He is one of a kind. We love you.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening October 26 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Frostproof. A funeral service will be held 2:00PM on Friday, October 27 ,2017 at the Corinth Primitive Baptist Church with interment to follow at the Corinth Cemetery. Pastor Lloyd Cunningham will be officiating.
