Franklin J. Scruggs

Franklin J. Scruggs of Frostproof passed away Saturday, June 6, 2009 at his residence.

He was born December 3, 1933 in Alabama to the late Dempsey & Ila Mae (Miller) Scruggs; he came here from Alabama 55 years ago. He was a retired mechanic for Agrico Chemical Co., a founding member of the Emmanuel Baptist Fellowship and served in U.S. Navy. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and was an active member at his church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, vegetable gardening and going to his kids and grandkids ball games.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn R. Scruggs; daughter, Lynn Scruggs of Frostproof; son, Dennis Scruggs of Sebring; brother, Gene Scruggs of Lake Toxaway, NC; 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 6:00 until 8:00 PM, Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Frostproof. The funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at the Emmanuel Baptist Fellowship in Frostproof. Interment will follow at the Silver Hill Cemetery in Frostproof.
