Francis J. "Frank" Markle, Jr.

Francis J. "Frank" Markle, Jr. of North Tonawanda, NY passed away Thursday, January 26, 2012 at the Lake Wales Medical Center.

He was born May 29, 1937 in Niagara Falls, NY to the late Francis John Markle Sr. and Eileen Horan Markle; and he has been coming as a winter resident from North Tonawanda, NY for four years. He was retired from Niagara Mohawk Power Company and attended the St. Paul's United Church of Christ. He was a longtime steward and former president of I.B.E.W. Local #1339, served on the Western Division Credit Board of Directors for 37 years and was president for 10 of those years. He was active in the Catarac Little Loop Football and ran the concession stand for many years. He was the former democratic chairman in Niagara Falls, an avid auto racing fan, a founder of the Ransomville Speedway, an active member of the Ken-ton MS Club and enjoyed watching sports in television.

Frank was preceded in death by his son, Erick Markle and a sister, Elizabeth Fitzgibbons. Survivors include his wife, Fay A. Markle; children, Nadine Addenbrooke (Scott) of Lewiston, NY, Steven Markle of Niagara Falls, NY, Debra Gleaton (Daryl) of Town of Lewiston, NY, Crystal Krantz (Roger) of Grand Island, NY and Richard Boerdner (Judith) of North Tonawanda, NY; step-mother, Kathyrn Markle of Akron, OH; sisters, Karen Bouvy of Youngstown, NY and Mary Ann Fitzgibbons of Niagara Falls, NY; brothers, Steven Fitzgibbons (Denise) of Lockport, NY and John F. Markle (Jean) of Akron, OH; 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
