Forrest A. Emmett

Forrest “Afton” Emmett, 82, of Lake Wales, Florida went home to the Lord on December 10, 2014.

Afton was born on January 5, 1932 in Lake Wales to parents Jesse Noel Emmett and Ellie Woods Emmett and was a resident of Lake Wales for his entire life. He wed Mary Catherine ‘Cathy’ (Partin) Emmett in 1952 and together they enjoyed 59 years of marriage. A veteran of the Korean War, Afton was a sheet metal worker by trade. He belonged to the Central Avenue Baptist Church where he served for many years as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. Along with his wife, Cathy, he enjoyed traveling to the mountains and the beach, as well as spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was much loved by his family and will be kindly remembered for his wit, tenacity and strong will.

His wife, Cathy Emmett, and son, Kevin Emmett, preceded him in death.

He is survived by daughters Marsha Kincaid (Alan) of Lake Wales, and Paula Peterson (Ronnie) of Lake Wales; son Keith Emmett (Sara) of Winter Haven; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home with Rev. Stephen Bolden officiating.
Interment will be held at the Lake Wales Cemetery.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, December 13, from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
