Floyd Simmons, Jr.

Floyd Simmons Jr. of Frostproof passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at the Florida Hospital Orlando.

He was born February 3, 1929 in Randolf County, GA to the late Floyd Simmons, Sr. and Effie Mae Royals Simmons; and he came here in 1998 from Moore Haven, FL. He was a retired U.S. Air Force Tech Sergeant, serving in Korea and a member of the Masonic Lodge #1, Omar Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. and the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry all in Charleston, SC.

Floyd was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Simmons and a step-son, David M. Nice. Survivors include his daughter, Deborah A. Ackerman (Dale) of Great Falls, MT; son, Floyd Simmons III of Moore Haven, FL; step-sons, Bruce L. Nice of Lake Port, FL and Craig J. Nice of Thonotosassa, FL; brother, Donald Simmons of Atlanta, GA and Bobbie Simmons of Columbus, GA; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 until 5:00 pm, Sunday, April 10, 2011 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Frostproof. The graveside service will be held 11:30 am, Monday, April 11, 2011 at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
