Florizel "Junior" Houston

Florizel "Junior" Houston of Lake Wales passed away Monday, May 18, 2009 , at the Savannah Court Assisted Living Facility.

He was born April 24, 1924 in Lucille, GA, to the late Florizell Houston, Sr., and wife, Effie Alberta White Houston, and came to Lake Wales in his late teens. He was a service supervisor for G.T.E. and an active member of the First Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Lake Wales Lion's and Telephone Pioneer Club s . He was a sports fan of the Tampa Bay Bucs, Detroit Tigers and the Rays; but, he enjoyed following the Florida State Seminoles in football, basketball and baseball. He enjoyed many years of hunting and fishing with family and friends in various parts of Florida and Georgia.

Junior was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lilly Fink. Survivors include his wife, Latrelle Goff Houston; son, Roaul D. Houston (Janice) of Plant City; two daughters, Gina Leddon (Paul) and Dena Elmore (Doug), both of Lake Wales; sister, Nella Pratt , of Vancouver, Washington; two brothers, Carroll Houston, of Portland, Oregon, and David Houston of Ocala, Florida; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held 3:00 PM, Friday, May 22, 2009 , at the First Baptist Church of Lake Wales , with visitation starting at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at the Lake Wales Cemetery.
