Fay Kathryn Roberts,
Fay Kathryn Boord Roberts was born on the 5 th day of November 1930 in the steel city of Monessen, Pennsylvania to Howard and Bertha Boord.
She was raised in the town of Rostraver, Pennsylvania and moved to Charleroi for her senior year of high school where she graduated. Fay had one sister, Lola, who preceded her in death.
After graduating from high school, Fay attended a two-year Secretariat Preparatory School which provided many job opportunities for her. She was also an accomplished pianist and piano teacher and later became a professional church organist. Locally she played for the Methodist Church of Frostproof and Saint Anne’s Episcopal Church in Wauchula. Fay was a past member of the Eastern Star and an avid tennis player.
Fay married John B.G. Roberts, Jr. on the 14 th day of June in 1952. Her husband became an ordained Priest in the Episcopal church and after serving for five years in the Diocese of Pittsburgh, he entered the United States Air Force as a Chaplain. Fay traveled extensively as her husband was moved from one assignment to another. Fay used her musical talent as she played the base chapel organs and taught children’s choirs.
Survivors include her husband of 70 wonderful years, Chaplain Colonel John B.G. “Jack” Roberts, USAF, Ret.; children, John B.G. Roberts, III of Babson Park, William Howard Roberts and wife Linda of Tallahassee, Richard Mark Roberts of Gainesville, and Christy Fay Roberts Sullivan and husband Robert of Lake Wales. Survivors also include her five grandchildren, Tristan, Jeremy, Gibson, Jillian and Leila; and great-granddaughter, Annelise. She certainly has earned her rest in the Lords Heavenly Home.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, September 18, 2022 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 19, 2022 at the Episcopal Church of The Good Shepherd in Lake Wales. Interment will follow at Lake Wales Cemetery.
