Fay Dowdy of Winter Haven passed away Sunday, July 23, 2023 at Kindred Hospital in Tampa.

She was born February 20, 1949 in Bartow to the late Joseph and Mary King; she has been a lifelong resident of the area. Fay was a homemaker and of the Protestant faith. She loved car racing and made the best peanut butter cookies, sweet tea, and biscuits. Fay would do anything to help others and loved her family dearly.

Fay was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Dowdy. She is survived by her sons, Michael Burkett of Lakeland and Joe Dowdy of Winter Haven; sisters, Edna, Diane, Theresa, and Denise; brother, Wesley; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 27, 2023 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 28, 2023 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales with Rev. Allen Watson officiating. Interment will follow at Wildwood Cemetery in Bartow.
