LAKE WALES--Farley A. Sparks, 82, of Lake Wale died Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at the Winter Haven Hospital.
Born February 06, 1925 in Pontiac, IL; he came here from Pontiac, IL in 1986. He was the owner/operator for Sparks Locksmith. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the V.F.W. #2420, American Legion Post #71, Elks Lodge #1974, the Breakfast Rotary Club and the Moose Lodge #1103 in Pontiac, IL. He was also a Phi Mu Alpha at North Western University in Evanston, IL.
Mr. Sparks was preceded in death by his son, Harrison Allen Sparks in 1999. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Sparks of Lake Wales; daughters, Sally Deutsch of Normal, IL; Floy Haschke of Wheaton, IL; Helen Giallombardo of Northbrook, IL; and 6 grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 7:00 PM, Saturday, June 02, 2007 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. Visitation will also be held from 2:00 PM until service time at 3:00 PM, Sunday, June 03, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church in Lake Wales with Rev. Jeffrey Kantz officiating. Burial will take place at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to the Lake Wales Breakfast Rotary Foundation, P.O. Box 1313, Lake Wales, FL 33853.
