Fannie Raines, 92, of Frostproof passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at the Lake Wales Medical Center.

Born March 2, 1916 in Geneva County, AL; she came here from Geneva, AL in 1938. She was a retired fruit sectionizer for Citrus World and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Frostproof. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, taking care of her yard, cooking and sewing.

Fannie was preceded in death by her husband, Elmo Clyde Raines in 1982; sons, Elbert C. Raines in 1993 and Elmer Floyd Raines in 2002. Survivors include her daughter, Mary and husband, Quinton, Varnes of Avon Park; daughter in laws, Mary and Gloria; 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 15, 2008 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Frostproof. Interment will follow at the Silver Hill Cemetery.
