LAKE WALES--Evelyn E. “Evie” Hoeppner Gervais, 66, of Lake Wales passed away October 27, 2007 due to complications of cancer at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale.
Born October 9, 1941 in Bridgeport, CT; she came to Lake Wales from Underhill, Vermont in 1994. She was a Senior Telecommunications Specialist for IBM for 20 years retiring in 1992 and was of the Catholic faith. She loved being home with her family, enjoyed gardening, and was an avid sports fan and golfer. She also raised and rode horses as a youth. Evie was a kind and thoughtful person and was the essence of traditional homemaking, taking pleasure and pride in her home’s neatness and décor, and her planning and organizational skills.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her grandson, Samuel Anderson Hoeppner. Survivors include her husband, Robert “Bob” Gervais of Lake Wales; daughters, Kathrynlyn Atwood of Nashville, TN; Angela Spadaccini of Charlotte, VT; sons, Kenneth Hoeppner Jr. of Shelburne Falls, MA; Joseph Hoeppner of Hinesburg, VT; Shawn Gervais of Virginia Beach, VA; Robert M. Gervais of Ridgecrest, CA; brothers, John Agonis of Pikeville, TN; Richard Agonis of Rowayton, CT; sister, Alice Leeney of Green Acres, FL; and 11 grandchildren.
Local memorial services will be held 7:00 PM, Monday, November 12, 2007 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home, Lake Wales with Father Anthony Bluett officiating. Another memorial service will be held 6:00 PM, Friday, November 16, 2007 at the United Christian Academy, Raceway Road, Jericho, VT • Tel. No. 802.899.2949. Attendees are asked to bring a candle to participate in the candlelight commemoration. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 105 Arneson Avenue, Auburndale, FL 33823.
