Evan M. Knowles, 92

Evan M. Knowles of Winter Haven passed away Saturday, July 27, 2024 at George C. Forsythe Hospice House in Auburndale.

He was born July 5, 1932 in Independence, Indiana to the late Cedric and Lillian Knowles; he moved to the area in 2004 from Felton, Delaware. Evan was a retired data processor for the State of Delaware and served with the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. In his early years, he enjoyed golfing. Evan was a founding member of the Bible Fellowship Church in Camden, Delaware. He was an avid Philly’s and Eagle’s fan. Evan enjoyed attending car rallies, singing, and was a daily newspaper reader. He loved coffee and making people laugh.

Evan was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Knowles in 2011; brother, Robert Knowles; and sisters, Elsie Kee and Marie McNamee. He is survived by his daughters, Debbie Childress (Dennis) of Winter Haven and Barbara Dallman (Brian) of Lake Wales; grandchildren, Chris Childress (Trina), Lauren Wilkinson (Roy), Ashley Guiterrez (Chris), and Josh Childress (Leyah); nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales with Pastor Roy L. Wilkinson III officiating.
