Eva (Layna) Elaine Roper

Saturday June 19, 2021 Eva Elaine Roper passed at the age of 48.

Layna was born to John and Juanita Roper on August 22, 1973 in Columbus, Georgia. Moving with her family to Frostproof, Florida soon after where she too would raise her family.

Layna took pride in being a mother, and raised her six kids Matthew, Ryan, and Dakota Bond, Cheyanne and Emily Wilkerson, and Willow Anderson with incredible love. She was the embodiment of motherhood and leaves behind irreplaceable memories with each of her kids. Always finding the time to tell them a memory and teach a life lesson. Finding herself contemplating life’s conspiracies late at night with her daughters she was raising in the home and proudly watching two of her sons raise children of their own while another serves in the Air Force. Leaving her feeling proud as a mother for all of her children.

Over the years her work lead her in service to others as a police officer in the Lake Wales Police Department and a Certified Nurse Assistant with Helping Hands Home Health Care Services. Her true passion coming later in life when she started her own business, Southern Skies Pilot Car Services. Driving around Florida in her blue truck proudly escorting oversized loads.

Layna loved mystery’s and romance, and would never turn down deep talks about life and trips down memory lane. She was genuine and dependable. Layna was a light in the world.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Roper. She is survived by her family of six children, her three brothers Shan Roper, Bobby McCoy and Hoyt Fuller, and four grandchildren, Isaac, Lilly and Aubrey Bond, and Toby Diaz, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Layna leaves a lasting impact on those around her who’s lives she played a role in and with her passing she holds a memory with each person she met. She brought love and a sense of home to the environment she created, to have gotten the chance to know her was a blessing. Layna will be missed by many but her light is carried through many more.

A memorial service in Layna honor will be held on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at 3 p.m. at Marion Nelson’s Funeral Home in Lake Wales, Florida.
