Estel George Wagner

February 16, 1920 — July 20, 2011

Mr. Estel George Wagner, age 91, of Water’s Edge in Lake Wales, Florida and a former resident of Boone, NC died Wednesday at Grace Health Care in Florida. Born February 16, 1920 in Montana, he was a son of the late Judson and Effie Dean Smith Wagner. Estel was a former member of Perkinsville Baptist Church. He was a real estate developer and the first licensed real estate broker in Boone, NC.

He is survived by his loving family. His wife of 68 years; Lucille Miller Wagner; three daughters: Elaine Myers of Atlanta, GA, Jeanette (Ted) Potts of Denton, NC, and Kitty (Dale) Sweet of Winter Haven, FL, two sons: Allan (Judy) Wagner of Boone, NC, and Brad Wagner of Greenville, SC, nine grandchildren: Beverly Henretty, Robert Myers, Ginny Whitman, Barbara Mensch, Laura Hancock, Matthew Potts, Cortney Pagano, Lynnsey Strouse, and Casey Wagner, nine great grandchildren, one sister; Bonnie Herr of Lancaster, Pennsylvania and one brother; Judson Wagner of Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Visitation for Mr. Estel George Wagner will be Monday, July 25, 2011 at 12:30 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 2 o’clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel in Boone, NC. Officiating will be Rev. Harold Bennett. Burial will follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

The family would also like to express our deepest appreciation to the nurses and staff at the Grace Health Care in Lake Wales for the dedicated and compassionate care they provided to our beloved one in his final days.
