Ernie Carroll McCoy

March 24, 1950 — April 22, 2026

Auburndale

Ernie Carroll McCoy, born March 24th 1950 in Mozel, SC, a faithful servant of the Lord, devoted husband and father and friend to many went to Heaven on April 22nd, 2026.

He was welcomed home by his mother Myrtle McCoy, his father Walter McCoy, his sister-in-law June McCoy, son-in law Ken Foley, and many brothers and sisters in Christ with whom he faithfully served the Lord. Bro. McCoy was a active member of Mt Olive Baptist Church in Polk City where he taught Sunday School, served in the prison ministry, and was recently added to the church as a Missionary. He was a very active Gideon where he enjoyed a precious brotherhood with other Godly men that distributed thousands upon thousands of Bibles every year seeing may souls come to Christ. He faithfully served as a deacon of Central Baptist Church for 32 years along with several other responsibilities including teaching Sunday School, Bus Director, and Senior's Director.

He is survived by Casey, his dear wife of 55 years, Daughters Shelly Foley and Ammie Elmore, Son Tony Elmore, Granddaughters Jordan Foley and Reece Foley and his brother Jimmy McCoy to serve his Lord in his absence until they are joined together with him again.

Bro. McCoy had a larger than life personality and his life made an impact in many ways upon many lives. He was a proud American and was also proud of his southern heritage. He loved to fish, shoot his guns, and collect pocket knives. He loved Bella Blue, his Dacshund that started and finished everyday at his side or on his lap. He loved his family with everything in him. With a life as large Bro. McCoy's, there is no question in the midst of all the many things in his life, the Lord Jesus Christ was of the greatest importance to him and as the Patriarch of his family he taught his family to follow his example. He leaves a lasting legacy of service to the Lord, spirit of kindness, and a joyful heart to all who were fortunate to know him. He is already missed, but our temporary loss is Heaven's gain.

A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 27, 2026 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. Interment will follow at Rolling Hills Cemetery.
