Ellis Peter Combs

Peter Combs, 81, of Lake Wales passed away, Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale.

He was born July 30, 1932 in Henderson, North Carolina to the late Kermit and Geraldine (Ellis) Combs and has been a resident of the area since 1974 after moving here from Orlando, Florida. Peter served in the US Army Reserve and was retired in auto restoration and repair service. He was a member and past Sunday school teacher at the First Baptist Church of Lake Wales. He enjoyed his men's Bible study and had a passion for wood working, antique cars and fishing. He always offered his help, had warm wishes to give, and had a twinkle in his eyes when he joked and teased with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years Carol Combs; daughters, Carole Carver of Akin, SC; Barbara Miller of Delray Beach, Florida; sons, Ellis Combs of Ft. Myers, FL, Mark Combs of Orlando, FL; brothers, Christopher Combs of Palm Bay, FL, Stephen Combs of Carbondale, IL, John Combs of Carriere, MS; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren

Memorial services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Lake Wales with Dr. Scott Markley and Dr. Stephen Combs officiating.

Peter asked that everyone attending come in colorful attire, that no black or ties be worn and come ready to celebrate.

In lieu of flowers, Peter also requested donations be made to First Baptist Church Missions Program.
