Ella Genevieve Fletcher

Ella Genevieve Fletcher, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2026, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. She was born on May 21, 1935, in Skyland, North Carolina to the late Henry and Nellie Ledford.

Ella built her career at Alcoma, where she worked as a lower bin operator. She found great joy in sewing, creating pieces that warmed the hearts of family and friends. Her baking was legendary within the family, filling her home with comforting aromas and delighting all who gathered at her table. Shopping was another of her pleasures, always undertaken with her characteristic good nature and infectious enthusiasm.

A woman of deep faith, Ella was guided by her Baptist beliefs and upheld the values of compassion, humility, and gratitude in all aspects of her life. Her gentle manner extended to her love for animals, and she held a special place in her heart for the creatures who shared her home and affection.

Ella was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Fletcher; parents, Henry and Nellie Ledford; and brother, Harold Ledford. She leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience in her surviving family: her daughters Joan Nalker and her husband Johnnie, Helen Lemay, and Mary Karns; her sons Robert Christopher and his wife Glenda and Calvin Cox and his wife Tracy; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and her beloved companions, Shasta and Ginger. Each was touched profoundly by Ella’s kindness and unwavering support.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 14, 2026 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Frostproof with Pastor Mark Hodges officiating.
