Elizabeth "Betty" Mcelroy

Elizabeth G. “Betty” McElroy, 90 of Frostproof, Florida passed away Thursday, April 21, 2016 at her residence.

She was born June 21, 1925 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts to the late Oscar and Elizabeth (Spitzer) Gibbs. She has been a resident of the area since 1950 coming from Pittsfield, Massachusetts. She was a retired Citrus Grader for Ben Hill Griffin. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, she enjoyed playing bingo and doing puzzles. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Frostproof.

She is preceded in death by her husband Henry C. McElroy and daughters Sharron and Carron Gibbs and son Clinton H. McElroy.

She is survived by her daughters Debbie Williamson (Rickie) of Frostproof, FL, Maybelle Ku (Philip) of Sebring, FL, Judy Thornton (Carl) of Wauchula, FL, Henrietta “P-Nut” McElroy of Frostproof, FL, sons Henry H. McElroy Jr (Mary) of Frostproof, FL, John H. McElroy (Patricia) of Solcum, AL, Oscar H. McElroy of Babson Park, FL, Lendwood McElroy of Ft. Meade, FL, Harold H. McElroy (Lori) of Babson Park, FL, sister Rita Soleo (Vinnie) of Pensacola, FL, brother Harold Gibbs (Mecca) of Eastman, GA. 25 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Frostproof with Rev. James Wood officiating. Visitation from 6:00-8:00PM Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home Frostproof. Interment will be held at the Silver Hill Cemetery.
