Elinor Carnill-Steinhilber

"Affectionately called Ellie”, she passed away on May 5 ^th as gracefully as she tried to live.

Born in Philadelphia, PA to Allen & Rebecca (McCook) MacQueen, her family lived in Lansdowne, PA. Favorite memories then were from summers spent in New Hampshire with aunts, uncles, and cousins and in later years as they gathered on the Belgrade Lakes in Maine.

After graduating from the University Of West Chester, Ellie taught 1 ^st grade until her marriage (of 43 yrs), to the love of her life, William Carnill II. Together they began to raise two sons; William & Thomas while living in Chadds Ford, PA and then moved to Mt Lake in Lake Wales, Florida in 1958, where Ellie lived for over 50 years.

Living in Mt Lake, Bill and Ellie sought to share their good fortune in founding The Vanguard School (1966). It was their wish that caring friends and family would contribute to The Vanguard School or a foundation that delivers education to underserved children.

Elinor was predeceased by William Carnill, II (1989), her second husband, Dr. Richard Steinhilber (2009), her son, William Carnill Jr (1996) and her brother, Donald MacQueen (2011).

Ellie kept busy in her Mt Lake & Lake Wales community. She cherished her life at Mt Lake and time spent in Maine.

She is survived by her son, Thomas Carnill, Debbra Carnill, her grandson, William Sean Carnill and his son, the CD Stull and DA MacQueen families. She leaves behind friends and family who will remember her love of world travel, small children, golf & swimming, playing her piano, personal generosity and fun.

"Thank you for all that you do" were Ellie's own words to all those who filled her hours with companionship & caring when her memory failed in her twilight years.

At her request, there will be no public service. Ellie did not favor these events and long ago arranged for her cremation remains to privately join her first husband, Bill. She wished her memory to be celebrated with mindful acts of kindness and generosity.
