LAKE WALES - Anne Cook passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2011.
Anne was born on July 21, 1940, the daughter of Bruce K. and Eleanor Browne Pugh, and was a life-long resident of Lake Wales. She graduated from Lake Wales High School in 1958, where she was in the Scottish Unit of the Highlander Band. In the late 1960’s, Anne was an officer of Spook Hill Elementary PTO where her duties included planning parties for the children and working with the teachers. In the early 1980’s, she was an officer of the Highlander Band where her duties included working the concession stand at the football games. Then, Anne was a clerk for the Supervisor of Elections at Precinct #32, located at Starr Lake in Lake Wales, a 20 year volunteer at Lake Wales Hospital as the secretary/treasurer of the “Yellow Ladies,” a member and the Chairman of Education at the Lake Wales Women’s Club.
Anne and her husband Bob, experienced many exciting opportunities to travel not only to Hawaii several times but also to China, Egypt, Greece, Hong Kong, Israel, Jamaica, Japan, Portugal, Spain and Turkey. She also enjoyed flower arranging, reading and gardening. She was an organ donor. Anne was an active member of the Lake Wales Church of Christ where she taught children’s classes for many years.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Robert “Bob”, son Rob and his wife Sharon of Athens, AL, daughter Betsy Paradise and her husband Greg of Winter Haven, son Matt and his wife Katie of Lake Wales, daughter Holly of Lake Wales, her Beagle named Maggie, 6 grandchildren: Joshua, Hannah, Amy Garcia, Jakob, Jackson and Parker, sisters Diane Pearce of Orange Park, FL and Pamela Ball of Naples, FL and brother Steve Pugh of Lake Wales.
Funeral Services will be held 3:00 PM Monday, November 21, 2011 at the Church of Christ located at 463 N. Buck Moore Rd. Interment will be held at the Lake Wales Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home on Sunday, November 20, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM
