WINTER HAVEN -- Mr. Elbert B. Scott of Winter Haven died of heart failure Tuesday (July 18, 2006) at Good Shepherd Hospice. He was 88.

Born in Gurley, Ala., on May 13, 1918, he came to Winter Haven from Lake Wales. He was a self-employed salesman for Silicon Products. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 186 in Winter Haven. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Lake Wales.

Mr. Scott was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Pearl Scott. He is survived by his grandchildren, Catherine Frank, Winter Haven, Linda Petty, Austin, Texas, Betsy Hodges, Cincinnati, Vincent Hodges, Denver, Craig Hodges, Mission Viejo, Calif., Lindsey Carnahan, Brevard, N.C.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lake Wales Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice.
