Edward Hauss Wilkinson

Edward Wilkinson "Uncle Ed" of Lake Wales passed away Thursday, July 28, 2011 at the Lakeland Regional Medical Center.

He was born August 24, 1925 in Hosford, FL to the late James William & Nellie (Dohrn) Wilkinson. He was raised in Lake Wales until he enlisted in the U.S. Navy to serve in World War II; during his naval career he met and married Audrey Ann Leeson, a Navy Wave, and they later settled in Crown Point, IN. He retired from U.S. Steel in Gary, IN after 37 1/2 years and moved back to Lake Wales in 1984. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a 32nd degree Mason at the Masonic Lodge and the president of the Homeowner's Association. He enjoyed family times.

Edward was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Ann Wilkinson. Survivors include his sons, Jeffrey Lee Wilkinson (Susan) of Tucson, Az, Rex Edward Wilkinson of Coral Gables and Todd James Wilkinson of Fort Lauderdale; two grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 until 5:00 pm, Sunday, July 31, 2011 and the funeral service will be held 1:00 pm, Monday, August 1, 2011 at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. Interment will follow at the Lake Wales Cemetery.
