LAKE WALES -- Mr. Edward N. "Ed" Spry of Lake Wales died of cancer Monday (Oct. 31, 2005) at home. He was 71.
Born in Anchor, Ill., on April 10, 1934, he came to Lake Wales from Bolingbrook, Ill., three months ago. He was a retired minister, having pastored in Indiana, Illinois, and Nebraska. He was also a retired band and vocal teacher and fine arts administrator in Illinois and Florida. He was a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity. He was director of a Title 3 Program in the Fine Arts in Decatur, Ill., and he assisted in founding the Walk in Ministry of Hope in Downers Grove, Ill. He was an Army veteran. He was a member of First Christian Church in Downers Grove.
Mr. Spry is survived by his wife, Marilyn W. Spry; brother, Warren G. Spry, Colfax, Ill.
Memorial services will be held at a later date in Downers Grove, Ill.
