Eduardo Lorenzana Casingal, M.D. of Lake Wales, Florida died on August 17, 2026, at the age of 88.
Eduardo was born on November 20, 1937, in Bayambang, Pangasinan, Philippines to Feliciano Casingal and Juana Lorenzana Casingal. He grew up in the barrio and never stopped being proud of where he came from or of how far an education could carry a person. He earned his medical degree at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila and immigrated to the United States in the early 1960s to train in orthopedic surgery in New York.
It was in New York that he met Judith Anne Curto at the hospital where he was an orthopedic resident and she was a registered nurse. They married in 1967 and shared fifty-nine beautiful years together.
In 1978, Eduardo moved his family to Lake Wales, Florida to open an orthopedic surgery practice. For twenty-three years he poured his heart into his practice, building an office across the street from the original location of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and serving as chief of the medical staff at Lake Wales Hospital. During this time, he also served as the team doctor for the Lake Wales Highlanders. When Eduardo closed his practice on January 1, 2000, he used his public notice not to speak of himself but to thank his patients for allowing him to be of service to them. That was how he understood the work.
Eduardo was a faithful Catholic and a parishioner of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, where he attended daily Mass. His faith formed the framework for his life. He was a proud member of Lake Wales Country Club and spent many memorable hours there with a close group of friends. However, he would not have called them “friends.” He did not believe in that distinction — everyone was family to him, and he treated them as such. Furthermore, Eduardo encouraged and quietly supported many relatives in their education and other endeavors, with his influence extending across the United States to the Philippines and beyond.
Eduardo was the seventh of ten children and in many ways the patriarch of his large family. His siblings include Teodora DeVera, Candido Casingal, Isabel Viray, Maria Casingal, Pedro Casingal, Victoria Quedado, Remedios Madrigal, Dominador Casingal and Feliciano Casingal Jr.
Eduardo is survived by his beloved wife, Judith; his son Edward Anthony Casingal and his wife, Lisa; his daughter Christine Casingal Daly and her husband, Christopher; his son Vincent Casingal and his wife, Allyson; and his grandchildren Mariah, Anna, Kennan, Jacob, Joel, Andrew, Nina, Michael, Kailey, and Kendall. He is also survived by his siblings Victoria, Remedios, Dominador, and Feliciano Jr., along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins around the world.
Eduardo was preceded in death by his parents and by his siblings Teodora, Candido, Isabel, Maria, and Pedro.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 21 from 5-7 pm at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, August 22, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
