Edith Helen Clarke, 100, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at her residence in Lake Wales.
Born December 30, 1907 in New York City, NY; she came here from Garden City, NY in 1962. She graduated from the College of William and Mary in 1929 with a degree in science and was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Fraternity. In Garden City she was active in Summer Enrichment Programs, PTA and Boy Scouts with her husband, who was a pioneer in the BSA Program in the U.S.A. She also served on the Vestry at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Lake Wales, and was coordinator of the Episcoal Church Thrift Shop. She was the Director of Volunteers at the Lake Wales Hospital from 1965 until 1989.
Edith was preceded by her husband, Arban Clarke in 1964 and survived by her son, Bruce A. Clarke of Tampa, FL.
Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shephard in Lake Wales with Father Thomas C. Seitz and Father Harold R. Warren. For those who wish, donation may be made to the Episcopal Church Memorial Fund.
