LAKE WALES -- Mr. Earnest B. "Bud" Lang of Lake Wales died Tuesday (July 4, 2006) at home. He was 78.

Born in Eagle Lake on Jan. 8, 1928, he came to Lake Wales from there 52 years ago. He was a retired chief of police for the Lake Wales Police Department. He also worked for the Polk County School Board for 10 years. He was a Coast Guard veteran and attended the University of Florida. He was a member of Indian Lake Country Club.

Mr. Lang is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marilyn Lang; daughter, Susan Brush, Lake Wales; sons, Robert Lang, Gordon Lang, John Lang and Mike Lang, all of Lake Wales; brother, Albert Lang, Lake Wales; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
