Dr. Cristina M. Coates

Dr. Cristina M. Coates of Winter Haven, FL passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2011.

She was born December 15, 1976 in Wheeling, W. VA to Albert E. Coates, Jr. & Renee (Chiri) Coates. She graduated with honors June 1995 from West Allegheny High School, Imperial, PA. After graduation Cristina re-located to Florida where she attended Florida Southern College and earned her B.A. in Organic Chemistry. She furthered her education and proudly earned her Masters Degree and PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of Southern Florida. With her extensive education she did a fellowship at Auburn University, Auburn, AL and was a Professor at Nicholls State University, Thibodaux, LA. Most recently she was a Professor @ Warner University, Winter Haven, FL. Her passions included scuba diving, fishing and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

She is survived by loving parents Renee (Chiri) Coates of Winter Haven, FL and Albert E. & Pamela Coates of Uniontown, OH; brother Anthony and wife Nicole Coates of Canton, OH along with their four children (Anthony, Madalynn, Sydney and Benjamin). The maternal grandparents are Raymond & Rose Chiri of Lake Wales, FL and the paternal grandparents are the late Albert & Pauline Coates of Imperial, PA. Her extended family includes many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Red’s bright smile, laughter and love of life will be dearly missed.

The family will be receiving friends from 2:00 p.m. until the funeral service at 3:00 p.m. Monday, September 26, 2011 at the South Lake Wales Church of God, Lake Wales, FL.
