Dovie Mae Wilson

September 8, 1945 — April 26, 2023

Dovie Mae Wilson was born on September 8, 1945, in West Palm Beach, Florida to the late James “Red” Wellham and Dovie Geneva Tanner. She was the youngest of seven children.

In 1967, she married Lamar Cernobyl and was blessed with two children. She dedicated her time to being a beloved wife, mother, and homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, cooking, and raising her children. She never met a person who didn’t find a friend in her, with her sweet and caring soul. She bowled with the Queens at Verdes Tropicana and was an amazing bowler.

After her divorce, she fell in love and married Glen Wilson and had four more children. Over the next 26 years, she loved her husband and cared for her family. Her kids were her greatest treasure of all. Family holidays she could always be found in the kitchen, always making the tastiest dinners, and by far, her homemade sugar cookies were the best in the world.

She loved old country music and loved to dance with her family even if it was just around the house on a Friday night. Her favorite movie was Dirty Dancing. Butterflies were a special symbol in her life and she always surrounded herself with the most beautiful butterfly pictures, knick knacks, and decor.

Dovie is survived by her loving sister Grace Underwood, her loving children Lamar “Michael” Cernobyl (Teresa) and daughter Shannon Wilson (Mike), Bruce Wilson, Tara Wilson, Kara Wilson, and Glen Wilson (Rosary). Granddaughters Alicia Woodard (John), Cody Wilson (Breanna), Kayla Wilson, Cole Wilson, Kasey Jernigan, Jerniah Jernigan, Leeah Jernigan and Kassandra. She was blessed and proud to be a great grandmother to Dalton & Savannah Woodard, Lainey Wilson and Sebastian.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by both of the great loves of her life, Lamar and Glen, her five brothers and sisters, and a grandson, Christopher.
