DOROTHY LEE GUTHRIE RICHARDSON, 97
Dorothy Lee Guthrie Richardson of Lake Wales passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at her home.
She was born December 24, 1920 in Punta Gorda to the late William and Freddie Lee Guthrie; Dorothy came to Lake Wales in 2001 coming from Homestead, Florida where she and her husband resided for over 50 years. During that time, she was the organist and choir director at the Redland Community Methodist Church, and President of the Margaret Mills Music Club. She was a talented pianist, and enjoyed playing for her family and friends. She graduated from Florida State College for Women now known as FSU with a bachelor’s Degree in Economics.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband of 75 years Paul (Gene) Richardson, sister Betty Jo Friday, brother Harry Guthrie, son Thomas Eugene, daughter Vivian Elizabeth and grandson William Kelly Richardson.
Survivors include her children; Judith Burr and husband Charles of Palm Bay, FL, Marina Blystone and husband Bob of Murphy, NC, Kelly Austin of Ruskin, FL, William Richardson of Morriston, FL, sister Mary Kathryn “Kay” Cooper of Tampa, FL, brother William Guthrie of Vienna, VA, twelve grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be held at a later date in Charlotte, Harbor.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Florida United Methodist Children’s Home 1100 North Ferncreek Avenue Orlando, Florida 32803.
