Dorothy Mimbs

Dorothy Ann Scott Mimbs, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, in Elkin, NC.

Dorothy was born on September 16, 1934, in Lake Wales, Florida, to the late William Scott and Florence Castile Scott. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William “” Mimbs Sr.

Dorothy worked in retail most of her life and retired from Walmart in 1996. A talented seamstress, she quilted, crocheted, knitted, and embroidered, often gifting her intricate crafts to loved ones. She also painted beautiful landscapes, learning from her sister-in-law, Arzetta Mimbs. After retiring, Dorothy became an avid genealogist; her careful and thorough research helped her discover her family's heritage and preserve memories for future generations.

Survivors include her three sons, William “” Mimbs Jr. (Mary), Scott Mimbs (Carmen), and Charles “” Mimbs; her sister, Sandra Payne; as well as seven grandchildren: David Mimbs (Courtney), Justin Mimbs (Thao Ngo), Kristin Beeson (Will), Timothy Mimbs, Candice Wagner (Ken), Alyssa Royall (Trey), and Charles “” Mimbs; and twelve great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 1:30 PM until the funeral service at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales with Rev. Joseph Mimbs officiating.
